quiet evening

Have I ever experienced such a quiet Christmas Eve?  Ah, yes, in 2002.  I deliberately spent Christmas Eve by myself, in my studio apartment in SW DC, because my father had died a month before, and for the first time in my life I was an orphan.  I deliberately chose not to travel for Christmas.  For all of my life I'd spent Christmas Eve with one ( Read more... )

It's a bit strange, but some people don't live well together with somebody else.
They need their own space for a resort, when either the world turns bad on them or the relationship goes sour for a couple of days because of something.
Also, some relationships even happen to exist better with the distance in between. If the people involved had to hang around with each other every day, they'd more get on each others' nerves than have the relationship they had otherwise.

We're having a very quiet evening here, too. We made and ate fondue and a fancy salad, A. called his dad, we watched a movie, and now we're each quietly reading the internet. The wind is howling outside and we're just hoping the power stays on. All we want for Christmas is electricity.
