I saw a skin specialist a few years ago and he said something that stuck with me, about how the skin is the largest organ in the human body, so actually it's quite a specialisation, and more important than most people realise.

I think in one trivial issue one already sees that there must be something different from person to person, either with the flora and fauna this on the skin or with something else (like own smell): Midges don't bite everyone equally. Some people they always lovingly take among all others, if they can choose, those always become victim of them, and some other people they only take if it's the only creature they can take blood from, which they have access to.
