Daycare and Preschool?

I'm moving to Overland Park in March and I was wondering if any of you locals have a recommendation for daycare and preschools in that area. I have a daughter who will be 3 by the time I move, and my son will be just under a year. I'd like her to get into Preschool, and him into daycare, and both at the same place if possible, but that's not a ( Read more... )

180-200 a week is pretty much par for the course around here.

I have a 3yo daughter at KinderCare at 151st and 69Hwy, and she's $203/week. I think most places have discounts for multiple kids.

Happy that my oldest is now in full-day kindergarten.

I've worked at several centers, so if you want any insider details, let me know!

I'd love some insider details. Where have you works and what can you tell me? Like any parent, I am paranoid about my kids' care and safety. lol Message me on here, or email it to nimrodjess@gmail.com

If you're willing to travel a little farther there are some wonderful Montessori schools in the area. Global Montessori Academy is on the Plaza and has full and half day programs for children aged 2-6. Clay Platte Montessori is located north of the river on Waukomis Drive near Riverside. It runs from age 2-15. It's a bit of a drive from Overland Park (I teach there and drive to and from OP every day) but it's an excellent school.

My friend works at a Montessori school down in the OP area, but I can't recall which one. If you're interested in that type of thing, I can ask her where she works (she's in an infant room, but will go on maternity leave in Feb)! The daycare I work at is private ... and up by the airport ;)

I will say, it is most likely that as your child moves up from room to room, the price will be a bit cheaper. I am not sure if ours gets cheaper from infant through two, as the ratio stays at 1:4 (in MISSOURI... Kansas has a 1:3 infant ratio, then changes for older ones), but I know that from the 18-24month room to the two room the cost drops (with a higher ratio, obviously), then so on from two to three, etc.
