My fiance and I are moving to the Indpenedence are this weekend and I need to know where to find awesome live music venues.
Rock and Blues mostly.....none of the culb scene please I cant stand it (no offense)

I'm a big fan of the recordBar in Westport... also, as much as everyone hates it, KC Live! at the Power and Light District has a free show every Wednesday night through October... all the remaining ones feature local rock/alternative music. The Brick downtown also is a good venue. Jerry's Bait Shop in Lee's Summit (or Lenexa, but that's a bit far for you) has an occasional good show.

The Record Bar can get a little too hipster, sometimes.
For blues, you have a great city. Knuckleheads is regarded by many as one of the best blues clubs in the country. BB's Lawnside BBQ has blues five days a week and really good food.

oh my god, i just seconded knuckleheads by non other that my old (one of my very first!!!) LJ buddies!!! hi writey!! how's life treating you??? since i have been friends with you (years ago) i had a baby, oscar, and am a bored SAHM lookin' for a job. wowwoowee, that's funny.

davey's uptown has some decent shows (including my SILs "best country band" by pitch weekly, THE LAST CALL GIRLS!!), the Brick i know is great...

my other sil swears by the trouser mouse (am i right on spelling, haven't been there yet) in Blue springs. her boyfriend bartends at Harvey's in IndepMO and they seem to have some fun people there, plus it's close to you.

another plug, you KCiteans should definetely check out a Last call girls show, they are rockin ladies, especially the four foot tall blond....

oh and i also second knuckleheads.

The FireHouse in Blue Springs has some good ones especially Allied Saints, they rock the house, they play at Knuckleheads as well check out their site for locations.

Oh the Eclipse is good too for the Jeff Sheets band in Raytown

harder metal rock at the Pig in Independence if you can stand the crowd. (they make a stiff drink though!)
