Out at the 31st and Iowa complex are the following: Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Goodwill, Home Depot, TJ Maxx, Michael's, and Kohl's. There is also a Radio Shack, various fast food outlets, and an Earl May garden center.

did you try using local.yahoo.com and search for things like 'retail' or 'store'? it works best with a Zip Code, and if you know what type of chain store you are looking for. Lawrence is big enough to have most every type of chain you can think of. Just not under the same names as we have them in Pa. There ARE two Sbarros and a Dunkin Donuts though! Yay! No good italian hoagies though.

agreed on the hoagies, but Planet Sub/Yello Sub does an adequate job of the same general sort of sandwich.

Welcome to Larryville! It's a great town; I'm sure you'll love it! There's also some great (if somewhat expensive) furniture stores downtown, so if you get all settled in and want something classy, that's the place to hit. There's also a furniture store on 7th and Conneticut St. Downtown really is the <3heart<3 of Lawrence, so we all try to support it the most we can.

Oh yeah! There's a Goodwill at 31st and Iowa (south part of town again) too and they get a TON of furniture at the end of the school year in May and then a smaller rush at the end of Summer and end of December - some in brand new condition from students moving out. They've also got household items if you need extra cups, plates, utensils on the cheap.

I miss Lawrence. I'd like to move back myself. :(

Hooray for moving to the midwest!

Things in Larrytown can be kinda expensive sometimes--I think the town capitalizes on the large numbers of college students in the area. Along with the suggestions everyone else has already given, you'll find several good stores just up the road at The Legends, including a Nebraska Furniture Mart (which can be hit and miss. Some good stuff, some cheaply constructed). Plus, it's on the way to Kansas City, which is a super-cool place!
