What are some good resources for finding jobs in this area? I'm in Shawnee and looking to find something within about a fifteen mile radius (but I'm not constricted to that, it's just easier lol). I'm not sure what all the various places are to check here since I'm still new to the area ( Read more... )

I'm not a fan of the job posting sites here...I think the KC Star works with careerbuilder or monster..you never know about those ads...it's like shopping for jobs off Craigslist. You have to weed through the "fake" ones that post their openings in a jpg image.

I'd suggest going to a temp agency and requesting temp to hire.

If things continue the way they are, I will probably find myself in a call center...out of curiosity, do you know what the typical hours in that one are? A 24/7 call center is going a little bit beyond what I'd even remotely consider. Thanks for the link!

try kchasjobs.com and kcphilnet.org --
I've had luck both places.

If you're interested in insurance and financial services, we're hiring sub-agents. It's commission based and is a selling/servicing position. We're in Bonner Springs. Let me know if you'd like more info.

Depending on what you mean by ...my job talents are computer, technical, and training based... you might try Dice.com. It is generally a site for programmers and business analyst type people. I liked it very much, I never got a legitimate lead from Monster, and Careerbuilder was not much better, but Dice got me something like 6 interviews in 3 months for real deal long term career positions. It may not sound like much action, but with my skill set and a lazy job search it was serious action.
