There is a fic in A:TLA known as Embers. I have not read it, but while it's apparently well written it is filled with horrible racism, Fire Nation sympathizing (THEY ARE THE ENEMY, okay it's their dictator government BUT STILL!), and Katara bashing. i actually enjoyed this fanfic. I liked how Aang was finally confronted by the fact that even though it “wasn’t him” he is still responsible for killing an entire fleet of fire nation ships at the north pole, most who didn’t want to be there and dying via freezing and drowning in arctic water is a genuinely awful way to die. Aang cannot claim to actually have never taken a life even excluding this event. he willfully killed the wasp buzzard. he could have left it alone after it left the hive but he chased it down and killed it. not to mention how many people he’s blown into walls, rocks, floors, and into the water. not everyone can swim and even if they don’t die on impact, it hurts to hit rocks and walls at those speeds. He isn’t a real pacifist. otherwise he would actually try to not hurt people around him. I feel like Aang doesn’t get that even if you don’t mean for something to happen doesn’t mean it didn’t and that you are free of taking responsibility of your actions.
