Well, if RL people of color are troubled by unintended race problems in your work, you should listen to them. If the people who have a problem with your handling of race are other white people, though, there's nothing wrong with telling them to get to the left. Unfortunately, there's no shortage of white people who use "The only characters of color in Canon X are flat, poorly written stereotypes" as an excuse for focusing on only the white characters in Canon X, even when plenty of actual fans of color like the characters of color in Canon X and don't think they're so poorly written.

Yeah, you'll probably get a lot of people who adore Eric while demonizing Andrew and Torrid and insisting that all the nicer characters of color and female characters are "boring" and/or "weak." But they will be WRONG. Worse, they will be WRONG ON THE INTERNET. And you know what Torrid would have to say about that.

Yeah. I mean, I don't think there are any overt Unfortunate Implications in Desert Grey, but well, if I've over looked anything I'll fix it. That's part of why I'm posting them. To get opinions from other people.

He would have very colorful things to say about it indeed.
