Chapter 4: I adore all the backstory and scenes we get of Flynn. Knowing her past and motivations makes her actions so much more understandable, and so much more impressive when she wavers but picks herself back up again. Loved the scene of her giving up her earring for passage fare, and how impressed Yuri is with her determination

re:Murata and Flynn -- I love how Flynn already has more intuition about Murata than Yuri does -- she saw a different side of him when Yuri was incapacitated by the events at her estate. Yuri isn't questioning his understanding of Murata at all yet. Love it!

re:Flynn/Yuri -- Murata does have a point, right? Yuri does seem to have a thing for older women -- at least, when he imagines them in baseball gear or with a baseball bat. So far, Nicola, Flynn, that waitress at the Carolia harbor cafeteria...

I love chapter 5, totally one of my favorites. I think one of my favorite Wolfram/Yuri moments is that when Wolfram learns about Gisela, the first thing he thinks is, I've got to tell Yuri! ♥!

And that Gwendal scene, sooooo much love!

I can't believe her fight with Snow Gunter is actually canon; for some reason I thought it was anime filler.*giggle* I love that KKM causes reactions like that! And we love canon even more for it. :) And yes, the juxtapositions

I wonder if Flynn would have picked up on something weird about Murata even if she hadn't had seen that aspect of him when Yuri was out of it. Then again, Murata's had a long time to practice his poker face....Yuri, of course, has Murata so neatly placed in the "eccentric-but-mostly-harmless friend" box that it's no wonder he's not noticing anything suspicious. *g* His mental reaction to the revelation ought to be hilarious.

I think one of my favorite Wolfram/Yuri moments is that when Wolfram learns about Gisela, the first thing he thinks is, I've got to tell Yuri!Aww! They do say that a sure sign of love (or at least deep attachment) is that whenever something new or weird or funny happens, your first thought is, "wow, I have to tell [person] about this!" Bonus that Yuri probably would be surprised by it, too; everybody else probably knows about Gisela already

One might expect that, but actually, it's not like the anime (or what I remember from the anime.) It's really hurty for a chapter or two... I think it's in the book after this one. I think someone else translated that one already.

My cold is definitely moving through the stages... I can breathe more easily now, but it's moved into my chest and I have a cough. Hopefully it'll move quickly through that stage too. Thank you!

Current chapters, i believe, are with maxine, the box and conrad's arm, so not too much ahead of this.

I haven't read this part of the manga yet -- I kind of wanted to translate the novels in a more unbiased way -- I look forward to reading them when I finish this book, though!

You are so right about Yuri seeing the best in others and underestimating himself. I actually think this whole arc was a scheme by Shinou -- or possibly a test -- to allow Yuri to prove that alone in an enemy land, he could still survive and succeed. Hopefully someday he will realize that he has accomplished a lot and deserves to have confidence in himself, too.

I have a soft spot for Gwendal, but really, I like all three brothers a whole lot too. I love the fact that Gwendal is more equally represented in the novels than the anime. It feels like Wolfram is growing up thanks in large part to his love for Yuri, and that's a whole lot of fun to watch. You know, I just realized that neither of these chapters mention Conrad! I think this may be the longest Yuri has gone without thinking about him. But that won't last too long... :)

I somehow missed your reply.

This arc being a test by Shinou makes a lot of sense. It always bugged me a little, how Yuri just happened to end up there. Shinou had to have a hand in this, especially since Murata is so non-challant about it. I'm sure he knew beforehand where they would end up.

Gwendal in the novels is amazing. My favourite scene from the novels so far is the Gwendal/Wolfram and Gwendal/Wolfram/Greta interaction after Yuri and Conrad's disappearance. Seeing Gwendal trying to find a ballance between being the leader of an army and an older brother is amazing.

All those complex relationships between the characters is what I love most in KKM. I really wish there was somewhere online where we could seriously discuss the series. I lurk a little on the KKM community, but most of the discussions seem to be about shipping, or end up being about shipping, which doesn't really interest me. I really hope more people see your translations and take an interest.

The scene with Snow Gunter is awesome. I feel sad for him though, he always gets left behind and now his soul is in a doll and his body gets frozen..
