He's still brushing flour off the yukata he had been wearing under his apron, a little, and then he has to pause to buy sparkling cider on his way through town. Sake had been his first thought, but he vaguely remembered Steve disapproving of his drinking at the picnic, and he wasn't inconsiderate enough to do it on purpose in front of the man.
Besides, the cider will go nicely with the fresh fruit tarts that he's bringing from the bakery. Because visiting anyone requires food.
He seems almost weighed down, with his katana on one hip, his messenger bag resting against the other, and one hand full of a bag with the juice and tarts in it.
But there's a smile on his face, and he reaches up the other hand to wave as he catches sight of his friend.}
Steve-san!
Reply
Gau! It's good to see you, friend, here let me help you.
[He says as he approaches, offering to take the bag full of goodies from him.]
Reply
[Gau easily hands the bag off, not arguing this once over someone taking his burden. Besides, Steve seems to like helping out.]
I brought you a treat from the bakery! And some cider...
[He laughs a little, almost sheepishly.]
I can't seem to help equating feeding people with friendliness or something.
Reply
Yes, well. I'm not about to complain.
[He peeks in the bag to see the tarts]
Looks delicious!
[He leads Gau back to where he'd been sitting, invites him to sit in the glass beside his shield.]
So tell me, Gau, how have things been? Has much changed since this business with paying tribute and housing?
Reply
I managed to pay the tribute, barely. I was all on my own for a few days... Yoite died and Raikou and Miharu... both... gone.
[He shrugs his shoulders a little, looks away.]
I got a job... at a bakery, that's where the tarts came from.
