[ Kakashi's finally finished with the final preparations, setting his last box down before dispelling his clones with a soft pop of air and a long sigh. He's already tired at the thought of all this socializing and he hasn't even started to socialize. ]
[ Here, have a misplaced, green-haired witch coming up behind him. She's back to being dressed in the usual getup, white straitjacket styled leotard, poofy sleeves and belts.
So many unfamiliar people. Different, and C.C. is as much a stranger to it as Castiel is. ]

[ Some of them he knows. Others he does not.
It is likely a mistake to come to a congregation such as this, over an activity which, for years, his illness has inhibited his ability to enjoy.
In terms of social skills, Itachi's primary human interaction for the past few years has been with the members of Akatsuki.
Prior to that, his primary group interaction consisted of time with his family, whom he subsequently massacred. Therefore Itachi somewhat does not have high expectations for his performance here.
Itachi arrives with Mukuro.
Further back, Sasuke is undoubtedly following him, as well. And also Kisame.
Out of them all, Itachi is only certain of why Sasuke followed him -- because this is what Sasuke tends to do. He is not certain of Kisame, and undoubtedly the two will need to have an important Discussion later.
And it is to be hoped that this discussion will be non-violent, for Itachi is fond of Kisame.
However, for the present, he must attend to this picnic. ]

[ Mukuro is quiet beside him, strolling along - he is here not for the crowd, because he prefers his own company above all others. Rather, he is here to observe the individuals, the ones who are invited along, and the ones who aren't.
After all, he is not predisposed to being idle, and he's always been one to gather as much information as possible. This, he thinks, looks like an appropriate venue for such an endeavor. What better place to observe each individual, gathered together here like this?
He would have whistled, too, if he remembered the tunes he had heard long ago.
This little gathering here - if his instincts are not wrong - will have the potential to be most interesting, indeed. Itachi is pleasant, enjoyable company in his silence, and he sees no need to break such a companionable thing. ]

[ Well, if that isn't a sight for sore eyes. Itachi coming to a picnic. This certainly isn't expected, but a rather pleasant surprise.
Kakashi hopes that this means Itachi is becoming more amenable to the idea of developing better relations between them, and starts heading over to him and ah, it's Mukuro. He never did meet Mukuro in person before. Though he supposes now is as good as a time as any to start. ]
Itachi. Mukuro-san.
[ He greets them with a slight wave and a dip of the head. ]
[After his flustering conversations with both that strange man (whose name he really should find out) and Iruka, Steve decides it may be a good idea to inform Kakashi about this misunderstanding as well.
He didn't know the quiet, obviously shy man, very well but that didn't mean he wasn't concerned for his social standings.
He finds Kakashi near the mass amount of alcohol, and while pouring himself a generous cup of sake he speaks to him]
[ Kakashi quirks a brow here, a little confused at this. He looks over to Steve, a cup of water in his hand. Kakashi rarely drinks in public, and when he does it's always in moderation. He's decided against drinking at all today, since someone has to be in charge, and he's pretty sure Iruka is going to get himself happily drunk later. ]
[Gau shows up with two heavy-looking wooden boxes stacked on top of each other, each of which contains a large-ish strawberry cake neatly arranged on a heavy earthen platter.
He brings the items over and adds them to the already rather large food offerings, and then carefully cuts a piece and holds it aside, making sure that if nothing else, Iruka-san gets his promised slice.
Raikou had been with him, on the way in, but by the time he reaches the picnic area, he's alone, an agreement to mingle and see what can be learned from the crowd in place, his eyes roaming the gathering in search of those he has met via the Hitomi, and taking note of new faces.]
[Now that is a face he's been waiting to see all day! Partially, because he is eager to know. Now, Iruka doesn't notice Gau immediately, taking care of the oden, watching the yakitory and teppanyaki. But once he does see Gau, his response is most enthusiastic.
Ah, and there's Raikou.
But really, Gau is more important right now. Gau promised him cake!]
Gau-san~
[Iruka calls out, waving, making his way towards the young man, all smiles and oh so happy~]
[Gau jumps up eagerly, glad to see a familiar face, considering this huge group of people has him feeling a little shy and unsure of himself. He promised Raikou he'd mingle and learn things but...
This is a lot of people.
So he's beaming as he turns to face Iruka, and waving madly.]
Iruka-san! I'm so glad to see you! Here, I cut a piece of cake for you already! I hope you like the topping I made for it, it's sort of a whipped-creamy thing...
[Now see, Iruka is a type of person who is always smiling. All wide smile and teeth and crinkly eyes and dimples -- but hearing this, that smile just turned to the equivalent of a fifty-thousand-mega-watt bright smile. Whatever hopes he had been trying to suppress, trying to keep down so that they would not be crushed has now reached the heavens.
He is by Gau's side immediately, urging to sit back down and offering him some sushi.]
Gau-san, I can probably honestly say, that you are my favorite person right now! You've brought the cake~!

[an awkward cough]

He isn't much of a drinker himself-- tends to avoid it, after his father, after Tony.
But this. This is painful.
His cup seems suddenly very interesting, a great reason to avoid eye contact]
Yes, uhm.
It seems that this gentleman, I didn't catch his name-- tall fellow, very blank expression -- is under the impression that you and Iruka are.
[Are mates.]
Romantically invovled.
