[ Balthier is second out of the Strahl. With his hands posed on his hips, he looks across the rocky formations, just as Lelouch does. Inhales deeply, exhales, and proceeds down the steps with his gun strapped to his back. (Perhaps, if they were lucky enough, they could hunt some meat. He's tired of eating noodles and junk food stored on-board.) ]

Just the right conditions for something unexpected. We'd best not explore without caution.

[ He is always walking forward, passing Lelouch and looking to the east. The sun hangs just below the horizon--not very good at hiding--with orange rays seeping from the surface. Balthier thinks their timing is fortunate, considering the name of the shrine they are investigating. ]

Goddess of the Dawn.

[ The name sticks to his lips like jelly. He doesn't quite understand how he was able to translate the name of the shrine into his own tongue, but he has had run-ins like this with Rin and Katsuya. ]

Right. [ Lelouch turns towards Val. ] Wash hands, wash mouth, ring the bell...

[ The thing is, Lelouch isn't really all that keen to meet these gods on their own turf - but then, there is always something to be said for diplomacy. There was a chant, too, but he doesn't remember much of it. ]

This may be a bit late to ask, but you're certain Yukari wasn't trying to mess with you when she told you this, right? [ Not that he especially thinks it's likely, but it's always possible. From what Lelouch has been able to determine of her, she didn't seem like the most stable of people. ]

[ Balthier turns to face the rest of his party. (He is very flexible with who he works with. Both figuratively and literally. So long as he's the boss.) His green eyes light with resolve and his demeanor speaks of decisive action.

He points to Lelouch. ]

Right now, she's our only shot on getting in contact with these gods and if anyone's got any better ideas, now would be the time to announce it.

[ Of course, Yukari could always be feeding them rotten eggs, but Balthier is used to wrong information. From his experience, in those instances wherein the map is wrong, one only needs to go the hard way around. It may be long and tedious, but he is always thinking about the treasure. ]

[ Valeria realizes belatedly that she should have known this was going to happen well before it actually did. Despite the age of their newest party member, there are indeed two men present and, in her experience, when there are two or more men present who are accustomed to leading and, or dissent in opinion, the two begin the common, very much male ritual of comparing their sizes, which... well, for starters, she isn't all that interested in seeing at this particular moment, and secondly, is highly unproductive here and now. ]
