When she arrived, stepping out of a black chasm, the first thing she noticed was that he seemed... nervous.

Or perhaps not nervous. Perhaps that is the wrong word. There wasn't any fear in the way he held himself. She didn't get the impression that he wanted to flee from her, as humans often do when cornered, or even that he was terribly uncomfortable.

But he seemed ready. For - a fight? For something.

Just his instincts, probably. That is, she thought, the sort of man he is. Or perhaps he is just shy. Ah, poor Katsuya. He should have known there was no reason to be shy around Yukari, but then he was a naturally reserved fellow, it seemed to her. But that was fine. Yukari would just have to convince him to open up.

So in answer, she merely smiled and waved, and asked, "What's your brand, Katsuya?"

Maybe she really was just worried. The idea passed through his mind as quickly as it left -- hadn't he said that when the Succubus complimented the way his tie could tighten just so? -- and then put the remainder of his last cigarette out on the ground before him. He scooped the butt up (for what? it would just end up in a pile somewhere else, woudn't it?) and tucked it into the pocket of his yukata.

He showed her the box: pale blue, a white logo, and shorter than the average cigarette. English mixed with Japanese on the cover... 'Mild Sevens.'

And in a way, he decided to test his luck.

"I could also do with a portable ash-tray."

He asked her for something.

That's good. That's definitely good. Well, Yukari is happy to provide. Of course she is. Whatever would make Katsuya happy would make Yukari happy as well, so it was really rather obvious. So Yukari did not hesitate - she flicked a finger through the air, caught on nothingness and tore it open, and her hand darted inside (it makes him uncomfortable, those gaps, and she doesn't want to subject him to it at a time like this) and pulled out a packet of cigarettes (Mild Sevens, good taste) and a keychain ashtray. The gap snapped shut hastily, and Yukari could only hope he didn't see the eyes.

"I suppose I should scold you for risking your health," she said, but her smile remained in place. It wasn't as though death could really come between them at any rate.

Now this? This was odd. This was terribly strange. She wasn't asking for a foot rub. Nor muffins. Nor even implying that she was anything but kind and pleasant. Katsuya, back pressed against the wall, stretched out his legs and set both hands upon his knees. Even the gaps had been small. Even the stance was strange.

"Yes, maybe." He answered cool, worried, a brow raised. "I suppose you could. Would you mind if I had one?" Perhaps the pack would open up and be a joke until the foot rub was procured. "And, are you sure, you don't want anything at all?"

She chuckled. "It's fine. I would still like you even if you were dead." And then a wave of her hand - as in, go ahead, by all means, or perhaps want something? Me? Don't be silly. Why would Yukari want anything more than this? Ah, but Katsuya was probably just being considerate.

Should she humor him? She thought probably not. Better to establish things early on - Yukari didn't need to be provided for. Whatever she needed, she would get for herself. Katsuya being there was enough for her. Why should she want anything else?
