And yet... it hadn't been his choice. All he could do was hurry back towards the Mizusato ryokan and Touya's room and hope that he would find him there still.
He paused at the door, almost afraid to call out. In the end, he didn't. He just pushed the door open a slight crack and peeked in first. Touya was there. He hadn't left. That was a relief. But...
"...Touya?" He still had a lot of explaining to do. And apologizing.

Perhaps this was a punishment as well. This lie, this false sound, this deceitful ringing in his ears that mocked the voice of the one he loved.
Perhaps.
Yet somehow a spark of the true person he was within - the one who never would have dreamed such a terrible nightmare under normal circumstances - reared its head.
He closed his eyes, drew in a single deep breath, and then turned to look.
"Yuki?"

"Sorry I was gone so long." Yukito tried to smile, to keep the tone light. Because if he didn't... if it wasn't... then...
He shook his head a smiled a little wider. "I missed you..." It was the truth. And the most important thing right now... right? His best friend and... his boyfriend... was still here; he could see him again.
They were together again.

But that required believing he was really there. And that required opening himself up to the possibility of losing him again.
He just watched for a long moment, and then... well, it wasn't really a decision at all, was it? Was there really a choice between hoping and staying safe in his own darkness?
The power was his, but it shouldn't be his. The power was Yukito's any moment that he wanted or needed it, just as Touya's heart was.
For a second, his magic pulsed around him, pressed outward, filled the room with a strange heat.
And then it was simply resting within him again, and he was moving, pushed himself up so quickly he stumbled, reaching out.
"Yuki..."

The most important thing right now was Touya himself.
Yukito didn't waste any time in wrapping his arms around Touya tightly. He really had worried Touya. But it was okay now, wasn't it? He was here again now. Though it had implated within Yukito an even greater fear.
He didn't want this to happen again.
"I'm sorry... I'm home now."
