Fai had expected to feel loss, but what he felt was relief. Those red eyes watching him every other minute of the day were a pressure that had made him tense and worried. And the way Yuui always seemed to turn to that shadow-man whenever he needed help...
Fai was jealous. So Yuui had grown up, so he was different now? So what?! Fai was his twin, Fai was his protector, Fai was...was too weak to be anything but smiled at, even when Yuui was suffering. He was failing now, too, watching unhappily from the kitchen door while his brother ( ... )

He didn't want to have anything to do with that door right now.
To the him of right now, in this moment, he really didn't want to face that stupid door, or anything that had happened behind that door, or how Kurogane could come here, make him face those things, make him accept him... only to leave.
Kurogane wasn't supposed to be a liar too.
So for now he just turned his head enough to lean into the warm, delicate, fingertips in his hair and smiled a crooked, slip of a smile, faded by far.]
Do too. And nope~ I'm fine right here. Or... more to the point~ I don't think I can walk that far.
[He lifted an unsteady hand to catch at Fai's, his voice a touch distant.]
Let's just stay here.

[If he'd started firm, now Fai was uncertain. He frowned faintly and moved to try and pull Yuui to his feet, since that one had been so kind as to offer him a hand-hold]
Come on, it's not too far. You can lean on me, I'll help you.

[Yuui's smile slipped entirely at that and he shook his head, his cheek ribbing lightly on his shirt with the denial. Fai just didn't understand. Kurogane was Kurogane, and the lack of his presence made that whole house seem too big right then.
To his hazy mind, it was the same as standing next to the still waters of the pool, staring down at Ashura's still form. It was a new-formed trust given and taken away from him and why didn't he ever learn? Why didn't he see this outcome?
That. That too loud silence, like that of a tomb... Yuui was scared of it. Besides, if they took Kurogane from there, they might wait until Faiw as back there to take him too.
So, to his mind, by not going back there right then was a way to protect Fai.]
Let's just stay here, my Fai. that house might eat you too.

[But Yuui stopped smiling, stopped listening and indeed stopped making sense. He'd pulled away, leaned off and it truly took no real physical effort on his behalf to thwart Fai.
He let go, and simply stared.]
I see.
[Yuui wouldn't let him help. Didn't need him anymore- or rather did, and wouldn't accept it. It was like a door closing between them and this drunken, frightened person in front of him was suddenly a stranger. Yuui had always needed him before, always come to him when there was something sad or hurting and Fai had always...been enough. But Fai wasn't enough, wasn't good enough anymore, and so he stood with tears in his eyes and fists clenched until he could breathe again.
Yuui did need him. Needed him to leave, to find someone else, find someone who was good enough. Someone older and wiser and stronger than one broken little boy. And as Fai strung out the transportation magic and sent himself on his way, he knew exactly who that person was.]
