Well, of course Juudai had started walking from the house on the bluff out to town as soon as he'd heard Shou was back! He'd gotten everyone else to come, too, but as soon as he catches sight of Shou, all bets are off on an orderly and organized welcome team. He races out ahead and calls out, "Shou! Shou!" Yeah, he really missed his friend. A lot more than he'd thought, in fact.

He slams Shou into a massive hug in the middle of the street, heedless of the stares from regular people about their business, and rubs his head hard with his knuckles. "It's great to see you!" he says, laughing.

It is only once his Aniki collides with him does Shou remember to react, paying no heed to the people around them. He offers no resistance to the noogie he's receiving.

"Aniki!" he cries delightedly, tears pouring down his face. "It's great to see you! How have you been? Why didn't you come to graduation? Where's everyone else? Where are we? What have you been doing?"

His questions come fast and unchecked as he's too happy about finally seeing Juudai in person to think coherently.

Not too far behind, Johan is moving to catch up with Juudai, somewhat leisurely for someone whose friend just showed up. By the time he's a decent distance away, he starts grinning cheerfully as he approaches the two of them, clapping a hand down on each of their respective shoulders. (Shou is easily a head shorter than Johan, but it doesn't make much of a difference to him.)

"Hey, Shou! Score one more for the duelists, I guess!"

An awkward thing to say from an outside perspective, at least, but Johan doesn't seem to think so. He's not friends with Shou like Juudai is, but still, knowing what he knows now about him and his personal trials and beliefs, he feels he can respect him a little more than when they'd first met, when it was strictly a friend-of-a-friend sort of thing.

It is only once he feels Johan's hand on his shoulder does Shou remember where he is. He reluctantly breaks apart from Juudai although he tries to keep him in his sights at all times, just to make sure he doesn't disappear again. He wouldn't put it past this world to do that, if what he’s been told is true. Not that Juudai needs any help in that department in the first place ( ... )

The last thing Juudai remembers? Well, the last thing he remembers from home is curling up in a cheap hotel bed and waking up in a garden next to a tree the size of the KaibaCorp building, but he's sure that won't give Shou many clues.

"Well, I'd been traveling before I ended up here. But if you mean, the last really important thing I remember..." He pulls a folded piece of paper out of the back pocket of his jeans, and grins. "I found this letter in Pharaoh's collar."

Of course, Kaiser wasn't out here. He'd probably greet Shou on his own, in his own way.

"Anyway, besides the five of us and Jack, there's no one else here from our world. There was someone else, but he was sent back for some reason before you came." Juudai glances at Johan as he says this, almost for confirmation. They'd really wanted to help Malik in their own way, but he'd had.... problems.
