Emerald eyes follow the man's progress, and yet Gau himself also moves, going behind the counter and investigating his supplies. Besides, food keeps his hands busy, and when he too has been stressed lately, that's a very good thing.
"There's some of that good wheat bread back here, so I was thinking I might make some sandwiches. Looks like there are some fig honey tarts from this morning left as well," he reports, his eyes flicking back to the older man as he speaks.

There's a hint of a genuine smile curving his lips as he nods to one of the cases. "There's still some honey-cakes left, right?"
He was pretty sure there was - Gau always made sure they had a few on hand for them.

Gau is cut off in the middle of the sentence, though, because the door opens and in comes a figure that isn't quite as familiar as it once was. It's been a long time since he's seen Yukimi, even longer since he's spent a decent amount of time with the man.
And normally, it might be Raikou who greeted his senpai more fondly.
But at the moment, Gau is doing something he never would have imagined: jumping straight over the counter, rushing across the room, and flinging himself at the man.
"CHICKENHEAD!"
Both arms go around Yukimi, and he's pretty careless about whether he knocks the man over or not.

Because it's a relief to have the older man here, especially now, when Yoite was beyond their sight and influence.
So instead, he simply offers Yukimi a small, amused smile and leans against the wall as he reaches over to lock the door.
"...I think Gau is glad to see you, senpai."
