The night lights up in white and blue as Fai more stumbles out of his teleportation spell than appears. He's disheveled and wild-eyed, dressed in pajamas and clearly in a panic; the moment he realizes he's arrived, he falls to his hands and knees.
"...Oh gods..." It's the voice of someone who wishes he could throw up, if only to alleviate the nausea. Fai spots Vincent then, as he lifts his head to take a better look around, and practically shouts, "V-Vincent!"
That... is not something that Vincent expects to hear, at all. After all, there's usually no one around this time of night - unless it's the Hatter popping out of a closet - and he's just not expecting a child to appear before him and start yelling his name.
These are all good excuses for the jumping out of his skin that happens for a second.
But it's not like it takes him long to realize just who is kneeling there on the ground, and since he's already on his feet from the startled jolt, he's in a good position to take off toward the boy at a flat out run.
"Fai!? Are you safe?"
If anyone has hurt this child, they will die a very very painful death.
Fai scrambles to his own feet and meets Vincent off-balance, but desperate. It's more a desperate clinging than a hug, but the emotion is there. Fai could only beg louder if he were actually using his voice; protect me!
"I...I saw...They..." He can't collect himself to think, mind still whirling with disbelief and horror, "I-It's Yuui."
Breathe. Breathe, Fai, won't you please just take a breath? Fai shudders away, shivering as if cold as memory threatens to rise up over his head. He'd been doing so well, the flashbacks had been coming less and less...
"H-he...was kissing Kurogane and. And I saw. He looked at me like I was... Can I stay with you tonight?"
That's the most important question to address, Vincent feels, as he wraps both arms around the boy and hugs him tight against himself. It's strange, because he hasn't dealt with a child this small since Elliot was young, and he himself had been a teenager then.
He sighs softly, slips a hand up to pet at the boy's hair. "Just hold on, I'm right here, okay? Calm down for a minute, then you can tell me."
