With how weird that all sounds, Lavi is pretty sure there's more than just a few things Raikou's not being completely clear on. Because that just kind of sounds a little silly. He stays silent for a while to try and work it out; what exactly it's supposed to mean. He's pretty sure Raikou's not being literal and just using this way of explaining it to try and explain something that he doesn't quite want to explain.

That must be what he meant with keeping finer details of some things out. Lavi frowns down at the ground, still not managing to grip it fully, and finally gives in and decides to see if Raikou can clear it up a little better.

"The kind of friendship..." He trails off, shakes his head. "Intimate? Just like that, with no explanation? A kind that is... more life-changing than normal?"

"Quite lifechanging, really. And accepted as if fact. Like..." glancing over at Lavi, Raikou sighs and waves his hands a bit before re-lacing them together.

"Like when I first got here and had no recall of ever being in Kannagara before. Like memory alteration."

That's as clear as he can or will say - because even that could well be pushing the limits a bit. But he can see that his explanation wasn't much of one, so he'd needed to say something to clarify.

Even if that clarification really wasn't much at all.

At least, he thought, after this is all over, we can have a laugh over it.

"Ah..." Lavi silences then, rubs his head and frowns down at the ground some more. Memory alteration... And here, in Kannagara, what you do then? Well... "I guess... the best you can do 's wait it out. You know how this place works; nothing really lasts very long. Or at least not forever."

He pauses for a brief moment, then glances at Raikou. Still, he understands it's not that easy. It would be for, say, Yu. Probably. But he and Raikou... Well, they don't really work like that.

Wonder what's really best in the end, anyway...

"But it's not that simple, is it?"

"Is anything ever that simple, really?" shoots back Raikou without missing a beat. He sighs and shifts back, places his palms flat on the wooden surface behind him. His eyes drift closed, a clear sign of trust for the man beside him, considering his agitated state.

And when he speaks, there is a note of weary resignation there in the tone.

"I'm tired of these games. Can they not give us a moments peace?"

No, nothing is ever that simple. At least not to either of them. "Apparently not," Lavi drawls dryly and frowns lightly down at the ground. "I dunno what the deal is with everything. Guess I can kinda get some things, even if I'm not happy 'bout them, but others just don't make sense. It's like they really just want to screw with us."

It's really damn frustrating.
