Turned out it was utterly useless.

Cross had really hoped that it would be possibly to shake off the rabbits, but after half an hour of walking so quickly it was nearly running it apparently wasn't going to happen. It wasn't a surprising thing exactly; rabbits were quick and since they really seemed so insistent of following him for whatever reason... Of course he wasn't going to manage to shake them off. He had even tried using Magdala Curtain but apparently they knew he was there anyway. Maybe he would have had a bigger chance if he ventured into the wilderness instead of just following the roads, but he rather... preferred not to.

The wilderness could be dirty, after all. Not to mention that maybe there were more rabbits lurking somewhere. Maybe. Who knew. He would really rather not find out, anyway.

He scowled back at the rabbits briefly, and in the distance Hisato could be seen. It was weird, somehow. He was fairly sure that the fur on these rabbits were familiar in a weird way, almost... And their colours varied so much; from ( ... )

Having burned her incense, Rin was about ready to head inside for prayer. There was just one problem. That being the unicorn. Back at the Amaterasu shrine, it had already followed her every step. Which had been just about tolerable, as the shrine had been built with little in the way of walls. But to go into a temple room with an animal in tow, even if that animal was a unicorn? It did feel a bit strange.

"Well, I suppose since you're sent by the gods..." she said, still staring it down. Since it was sent by the gods (probably, who else?), at least it wouldn't be disrespectful to allow it into the temple. Still, this wasn't going to stop feeling weird anytime soon, was it? She wondered how long she was going to have to deal with this.

Then, suddenly, she heard a racket, just outside the temple, and she turned towards the entrance just in time to catch a glimpse of some kind of stranger flailing about.

Wasn't that interesting. Almost automatically, she closed her left hand around the sword at her side, and hesitated. Fear was ( ... )

Oh.

Cross quickly gathered himself together and shoved the rabbit away with his boot as he straightened out his coat and turned to face the entrance to the temple again. So someone was there, huh? A native? Maybe.

His hand twitched a little towards his gun, because if it was a native... Well, he didn't trust them. But maybe he trusted un-natives even less. It didn't really matter which it was; he would still be on guard.

"No one dangerous," he answered, and that was half the truth at least.

He was of no danger if she, whoever it was, was of no danger to him. Of course, he was somewhat glad that it turned out to at least be a woman, yes.

No one dangerous, huh? Three words, not a lot to go by. All Rin could glean from that was that they'd been sad in a matter-of-fact manner, with none of that crazy sing-song the really crazy types might display. Not that that said much of anything right now. Still, it wasn't alarming enough to warrant being on guard from the get-go, so Rin lowered her sword and eased her grip on it, and slowed her gait, finally coming to halt when she was within sight of the man, and close enough to not have to shout.

Behind her, the unicorn whinnied. Rin rolled her eyes, but said nothing. Instead, she gave the man a good once-over, jogging her memory to see if he was familiar. He didn't look like a native, at least. Not in the slightest. She thought she may have talked to him over the network, may have seen him there, but wasn't altogether sure.

Then she noticed the horde of bunnies around his feet. The horde of very strange-looking bunnies. She gave a short laugh, more like a snort. "Guess today is being-followed-around-by-weird-animals day, huh?"

Ah, not a native. Cross could recall having seen her on the network a few times. Ah, her name... No, he didn't manage to quite recall that. Possibly written down somewhere, but it wasn't like he had any notes here. Not that he had many notes in general; not the kind of guy who took make notes. He had a fairly good memory. Her name, though, he couldn't quite remember that... Something with R? Short and simple, or something like that?

Well, didn't matter as he was probably going to find out anyway. And if he actually gave away that he knew it he would probably seem like some form of creep, which he wasn't. He just kept a good eye on the network; didn't have all that much else to do.

He scowled a little, grunted in acknowledgement and moved to look behind her. So she had a unicorn too. She looked pretty young, so not a surprise, probably.

So far it seemed everyone that wasn't a native was followed by some form of animal... Or well, it seemed to be just rabbits and unicorns so far.

"So it seems," he said blankly.
