[Sai considers the communication device with a frown. None of that makes a lot of sense to him.
Loony bin of the gods? No, it doesn't ring a bell. But he has been in alarming situations before. Perhaps this is Root's rebuke to Danzo-sama's death.
He glances around before answering. There is no immediate danger to be seen, however, it is an unknown scenery, and anything could lurk behind the next tree.]
[Obviously, this person is not a playful type. Gau scratches a note.]
It's good to hear that you're not harmed.
Whatever you were doing in your world, don't worry about getting back to it right now. The gods have brought you into their own realm, for their own reasons. Right now, the best thing you can do is find your way toward a town.
Do you have weapons to defend yourself, if you run into danger? Otherwise, I can see if I can find someone to come collect you...
[He's not ready yet, for something that strenuous, after his fall.]
I am capable of taking care of myself. [There's a smile in his voice, easy and reassuring. Kakashi briefed him in already, as much as Sai really needs. But few details never hurt anyone. And he clips the communication device to his ear for easier reach.]
You seem used to this, [he suggests gently, a sound of running footfalls behind his voice.]
This is a welcome surprise. It's been so long since Kakashi has seen anyone else from Konoha. Months. He was starting to think he never would see anyone else again. That he and Iruka would be alone in this place, without a familiar face besides each other's.
So this, this is a nice change. Seeing Sai here like this, even if he might have preferred to see him in a different setting. ]
Sai.
[ Kakashi's expression is impassive as it always is. ]
[voice, because he's still a n00b with the hitomi]blackest_inkMay 25 2010, 07:18:53 UTC
[Relief. The sensation is almost painful in its force and fury. It washes over him, undoing knots on his shoulders, vanquishing a touch of nausea from his stomach.
Sai shifts, that is the only hint that he gives of any development, his voice flat and deadpan as he replies,]
You are talking to me on a device known as a Hitomi. It is a communications device that allows you to transmit voice, video, and... other forms of communication.
[ Kakashi gets right down to the facts. No need to skirt around things, or soften it up. ]
We are in an alternate dimension known as Kannagara. There are gods in this world that have brought us here. Besides myself, Umino Iruka and Uchiha Obito are here as well, in addition to various members of Akatsuki such as Uchiha Madara, Uchiha Itachi, Hoshigaki Kisame, Deidara, and Akasuna no Sasori.
[ This is where Kakashi pauses. ]
Sasuke is also here, as is Uchiha Madara's younger brother, Uchiha Izuna.
We are not the only ones in this world -- there are many others who were brought here under strange circumstances like ourselves.
[It'll take a moment before the video blinks on. Finding controls isn't that easy with practically no technological skills. But he manages, and gives Kakashi a contemplating look through the hitomi.]
...More than half of that list should have been deceased.
Is this Uchiha Madara's doing?
[Who else is powerful or crazy enough for this... this, whatever it is.
There is another possibility, which Sai doesn't want to consider. If Kakashi has gone crazy, what will he do then?]
[ Oya, isn't that interesting? Mukuro watches silently, these unfolding of events, laid out so prettily before him. The man seems not much more than a corpse - pale and deathly, as if he has never seen the light of day. Blackest eyes, and yet; graceful.
It's not difficult to imagine that he can kill. He files the little details away for future reference. ]
[An endless stream of running footfalls, quiet rattle of the device as he clips it to his ear, Sai seems to be heading somewhere. His voice is softer as he replies, no doubt laced with one of those calm smiles.]
[Ink black, paper white, blood red. The imagery of the dream intrigues Sasori. It hints at a creative spirit contained within the dreamer; that the younger man wears the symbol of the Leaf on his brow is of little import. Art transcends all bounds, and Sasori is inexorably drawn to those who share a talent in creating it, no matter what side of the friend or foe demarcation they may reside upon.
Curiosity colors his tone, rather than mockery.]
Hmm, so Konoha is capable of producing someone with a sense of aesthetics, I see.
[Konoha? Obviously someone from their world. But not from Konoha. That only leaves Akatsuki in this place, and in Akatsuki, there are few that would be interested about art. He has seen the files as well.
It narrows it down to two. Most probably.
He reaches for a smile, and puts it on like he would his forehead protector.]
Something like that, [he says softly, even if the topic is a bit uncomfortable,] I'm a shinobi. But also someone who pictures what I see. If that is what you call an artist, then I suppose I am one.
[There's a thoughtful quality that colors Sasori's tone.]
Hmm...well now, I'm also a shinobi, but that isn't the only thing that I choose to define myself by. If anything I'd say I consider myself an artist above that, as my dedication to my art outstrips everything else.
Picturing what you see is a part of it, but not the only part. If you're at all moved by the need to create something, to express yourself, then you're an artist.
[And Sasori's thoughtful tone is encountered with one of Sai's, quieter than before, lacking smile.]
You would say that you owe your loyalty to your art? Isn't it a bit lonely to prioritize something so detached? [It's a honest question, one that Sai actually would very much like to hear the answer for.]
I have to wonder about that. I've never been able to name any of my paintings. I draw what I see.

[The sound of a pen scraping against paper, because once again, Gau is taking notes.]
If you were on a mission in your world, it's ended now. You've been whisked away to the loony bin of the gods, I'm afraid.
Look around yourself; do you appear to be in any immediate danger? Are you injured at all?
