There's no one from my world here, but I know people here.

[Not that you don't know that or anything, but Kurogane thought he'd drop by. Besides, he has a small interest in this topic.]

I thought you were from the same world as Yuui and Fai?

No, Fa-... Yuui and I only traveled from world to world together. We were from separate worlds.

But they were connected, before here.

How does that even work, man?

What about people I know who are different than I remember? There's this one guy who went ahead and got old without me.

Yeah yeah, he needs a walking stick, and wants that damn blond kid off his lawn.

[Have a cheeky grin, Mello.]

Too bad he can't catch him anymore.

[Mello doesn't realize he just managed not to be fucking pissed off at the world for a moment.]

He'll be singing a different song when the old guy gets one of those scooter things and upgrades it. With jetpacks.

Wouldn't know if it has anything to do with that. I haven't met everyone here, so I have no idea if there is someone here from my own world that I don't know. I would completely believe the messed-up situations thing though.

[Sadly enough, he's pretty comfortable in a situation like that. It's about as natural as walking to him. Not that it's easy, but he might be a little unsure of what to do with himself if things weren't totally messed up.]

Hell's bells, I hadn't thought of the fact that this technology can actually screw with your head. It's bad enough that people can when they aren't supposed to. Dammit, now I'm never going to get that thought out of my head.

Um, sorry?

[Matt's noticed before that Harry's transmissions always seem sort of in and out.]

If it helps? I don't think they can, like, rummage around in there. I think it's like a version of what the Hitomi does anyway.

And I dunno of anyone from the same time as me, but with a world where magic works.

One plus side then. I like things that are in my head to stay there and not make themselves known to other people. Call me possessive, but my thoughts and past are my own.

Hey, I'm with you there, man. Any shit like that being public could get a guy killed where I come from.

There's no one here I know. There was, but he got pitched out again almost as soon as he got here. There are other people here from my world, but they're from other times and places, and I'd never met them before I came here.

Doesn't lend much support to your theory, does it?

Okay, not much, I guess.

D'you come from one of those places where people can hop around dimensions, though?

I haven't heard of it if they can. Of course, by this point, nothing would surprise me.

How do you know these people are from your world, anyway?

Most of the people I do know here, I've either worked with or are the instructors of my previous students, or at some point my students. Being a teacher allows me to be very social, so I suppose that covers a lot of ground. There isn't anyone from my world who is currently present that I don't really know per se... it depends on how you classify the word 'know'.

[A pause. The theory makes him wonder, so there's a slight puzzled tone tapering around the end of his last statement.]

I count someone I'd only heard of as knowing them. I think knowing of them works for this purpose.
