[Cal's best side, out there for all the world to see. Great. Hope none of the kiddos get nightmares.]
Your pathetic death was why it wasn't a nightmare. Don't you think I know it would take more than that to kill you?
[After everything they've been through, it's pretty obvious. Cal doesn't really know what it would really take to put Niko down--besides flinging his car through the air like a frisbee, and that was just a concussion. All hail Sparta, now eat your leafy greens so you can be half as super as Super Ninja.]
[Well, this is all sorts of messed up. Not to mention the guy's dreaming is a total psycho and should be aware of that, so here Kanda is, along with the most emotionless expression and tone ever.]
And what exactly separates a 'person' and a 'monster'.
[Question so blank it sounds like a statement. Because dude, for someone throwing those around with so much detesting, you seem too much like the latter.]
[Cal answers with a straight face. This is a distinction that he's learned to make, but he's still kind of annoyed that this dream's been broadcasted all over.]
Monsters eat people.
[Does tearing someone's throat out count as eating? Probably.]
[Cal's not a dictionary. Why is this guys making things so complicated? Monsters are monster.]
Okay, look, there a human monsters and non-human monster. If a non-human eats humans, it's a monster by general rule. If they only eat bad people, like muggers and stalker and creepy pedophiles hiding in the bushes, it's more okay. Also generally malicious bastards who like fucking up the lives of innocent mortals are monsters, humon or non...
[Cal's getting a head-ache, and this is turning into a damn dissertation. He doesn't usually think these things out. He's usually more concerned with keeping himself alive than pondering the philosophy.]
Fuck, get Niko to lecture you if you want that. Bad things are monsters, human, non, alien, whatever. If you hurt people who don't deserve it on purpose, especially if you enjoy it, then you're a monster.
[Was that even right? Cal doesn't know if he's contradicting himself or not.]
[Monster. Yes, definitely a monster. And he shouldn't be reacting in ahem that way to a monster. Hear that body? Tone it down.
Really focusing on Cal and seeing how far off the deep end he was fixed the problem in flash. Harry knew the feeling of losing the most important thing in your life. Only he'd taken the exact opposite path as Cal. His situation had also been a lot different. Still, he understood. Understood completely. So he wouldn't mention it.]

[It's always a little jarring to realize that he isn't the only one that's lost or fears losing a beloved brother. And honestly, to him... that rage that this man feels, the madness his brother's death had evoked.
And while this dream and those emotions are something Yuui wouldn't normally poke at...
He was curious.]
...is he really dead, in your world?
[Because this place had a nasty habit of bringing back dead brothers.]

[Cal scoffs.]
Normal people, yeah. Given a vegan super-man ninja, he's pretty damn resilient.
[Thankfully, for a human. He's survived tentacle attacks, cars thrown like frisbees, and Cal's crazy family--both sides. Still, there's that fear of losing it all. When you kill so much, it's hard not to realize how fragile life is.

What about cannibalistic tribes.
[Lavi totally told him about people who eat other people in tropical jungle, yeah. Strange as it was; meat doesn't taste well in general.]

Easy there. Your brother's alive.

Figured that out already, Harry, but thanks. Besides, Niko's too good for wolves to take down.
[He wasn't worried at all. Nope, not him.
Okay, maybe just a tiny, tiny bit.
Maybe.]

[Trust him. He knows. He did have that God awful dream a short time ago after all.]

Hurts less than seeing it when you're awake.

What? No. No, he's not. Hell, if he were, I'd be dead.
[Yeah, there relationship might be a little unhealthy that way, but it's the only thing that's gotten him through life.]
Or running around biting people's throats out, so pretty much dead either way.

Well you never can tell in a place like this. Either way...it's surprising, what people are actually capable of surviving.
[And then a warmer smile.]
But I'm glad for you, that he's here. There's nothing better, right?

Cal pushes that aside and he has to smile.]
Yeah, nothing better.
