[Matt had trouble of his own to deal with, with his bosses dead or missing and his new workplace under attack, and when he and Elfangor finally get home, it's well after dark.

And J's nowhere around.

Which is okay. Matt guesses she needed some space from the drama, and he means to make it up to her soon, it's just. Shit keeps happening. He figures she went to see her friends, and he doesn't especially want anything to do with them, so.

So he waits for her to get home.

And she doesn't.

He smokes about a pack of cigarettes, wandering around the house, and finally heads outside, so he'll see her right when she approaches.

The dark's starting to barely tinge with grey, and the bad feeling about all this that Matt's been trying to deny is sitting heavy and black in his chest, when he gets the message. Why text?
