[A dream Matt doesn't mind listening in on, or whatever it is the Hitomi does to make them experience being someone else for a time.
This is almost as good as being in space himself, and he's never felt this sort of... free-floating goodwill for his home, never seen it from afar, so small it fits easily in his arms. But it feels good. Seen from up here, the blue-and-green world has a beauty nothing can touch. Not even Kira. Certainly not one insignificant geek being subtracted from it. It's almost funny, how little that matters, and how freeing that is.
And oh. It's her dream. Matt really ought to say something, huh? He and Loren haven't met, not in Kannagara's closest approach to real life, anyway, and he's intensely aware of the awkwardness of knowing way more about her than she's likely to know about him.]
Hey. [He's blushing.] That was, um. Really nice. I feel like I oughta thank you.
[He pauses. For too long. Words. Say words, Matt.]
Um. Are you doing okay? After all that, y'know. Bullshit?
[She yawns softly. She woke up easily after the dream, and sat for a short time in her room before looking at the small device. She hadn't paid much mind to it since she arrived beyond learning the basics of it, but now maybe it was time to reach out.
And she nods once, smiling halfway.]
So you saw? You don't need to thank me. [And soft chuckle, and she smiles a bit wider.] I don't think anyone should be responsible for their dreams- good or bad.
[And then she nods again, stifling another yawn.] I'm okay. Are you?
[And then it occurs to her that she's carrying on a conversation with him like she knows him. That's not terribly uncommon for her- but it would be nice to know his name, at least. He doesn't stir anything in her, so she can't be sure if she used to know him or not...but she doesn't recognize him as any of the Animorphs- the original ones or the ones that were recruited.]
I know who you are. [He's going even pinker, and he's glad the lighting's dim.] I'm Matt. The, um. Not-so-amazing dragon boy? Elfangor's, uh. Housemate?
[If, by some miracle, she doesn't know about them after the party, Matt's not going to tell her. He knows she doesn't remember Elfangor, but they're still married enough that it counts, he feels. And yeah, it's probably okay, or nothing ever would've happened, but still. Discretion's the better part of valor, and all.
Despite how weird this is, he likes her. Matt gets to Zen, when he gets there, mostly by indifference, and he's kinda lost the trick of it, lately. Loren seems like she's learned how to do the real thing, and he can admire that.
He gropes around on the bedside table for his pack, and fires up a just-woken-up cigarette.]

I kind of wish I could go back to the dream. I mean, it's not terrible here, now that the place is back to what everyone thinks is normal, but...
[And she looks away.]
...I don't know. It was nice.
[And she looks back, her smile a little more wry.]
Don't tell me that you dream of cinnabons.
