The newer residents might not know this, but some time back, Iruka arranged a picnic for those of us trapped here. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet people -- it was before the ryokan or the natives returned, and people were quite spread out ( Read more... )

A picnic? It seems strange, to want to eat outside when you have buildings to eat in. If you were on the march it would be sensible to eat outside, but I doubt there are many here who are even in the military.

Well, it's much easier to eat together in a large group when it's outside. And a picnic is usually paired with other outdoor activities.

And, well, I don't have space to host everyone in my house. And you wouldn't be able to attend, then.

[Well then! Her mood improves quite a bit when she hears that she is invited as well.]

This is true, human dwellings are far too small for a dragon such as myself to enter. An outdoor meal would be better suited for a gathering with dragons. And I suppose I can come as well, if you are extending the invitation.

Of course I am. Though I've never hosted a picnic for a dragon before. I don't think rice would cover things.

[Iroh looked deep in thought. How large of a livestock could he afford on his wages to give Iskerkia at least something to snack on?]

Iroh.

[Finally. A person he does not mind speaking to. And he does have wonderful tea.]

What kind of tea will you be serving? [Not that it matters, he'll make a trip to this just for his tea, of course.]

I was thinking of bringing a couple of varieties. Jasmine is nice, and it's getting cool enough that ginger would be appreciated. I've also got several cultivars that I'm testing, and a couple of new blends.

Are you planning on attending?

You have been hard at work, it seems. [He approves of this.]

... I believe we will attend. What shall we bring?

Whatever you can will be fine. Something you think others will like.

You're inviting everyone?

Yes. Which is why I asked attendees to bring something with them. I don't think I can feed everyone.

That's generous of you. It seems there are a few more 'giving' people than I expected.

How long have you been here?

Three and a half months. More or less.

Ah, hello. It's Iroh, right? Allen Walker.

That's very kind of you. I remember Mr. Iruka's picnic... It's been a while, hasn't it?

I might be able to come with some of my comrades.

[Perhaps he could even convince Link to bake. It would make up somewhat for having his "watchdog" back, right?]

A picnic? What a splendid idea. I'll make sure to bring some supplies as well.

[nothing he can't procure himself if needed. He wasn't the type of person to complain about WHAT his sword is used for therefore hunting is perfectly fine. It also helps keep him in shape so it is a win win situation]
