This was really cute! I've never heard of this particular fairytale before.

And I'm not being mean, but for some reason, you have Matthew renamed as "Sora" twice in the fic. ^^;

There is! The book is called A Wolf At the Door and Other Retold Fairy Tales, by Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling. The fairy tales are retold by a variety of authors, but they're all really good! The Months of Manhattan is the first story in the book, and it's by Delia Sherman. It's supposed to be a "retelling", but I've never heard the original anywhere, and every other story in the book tells you the one it comes from, so... idk. XD

The book version isn't extremely different from here, though, since I did have to keep the story. xD
