S.Seas Remnants Won

Overview

The main difficulty so far with the first 2 zones - Bhaflau and Silver Seas, is that the bosses have extremely strong special abilities that completely change the fight in 1 use.  In Bhaflau, Homing Missiles could completely destroy the entire alliance and screw hate instantly.  However, we were able to get by this problem by using a simple ( Read more... )

Before anyone else says it, Fatkat you are a Beast.

I think you should try getting Relic Bow after seeing this today... Namas Arrow grants hate reset as well so you wouldn't even have to worry about dying during the combo...

@_@ yeah id like relic bow too but i am le poor so meh..

anyways i wouldn't write off using pld completely for this strat, cuz when we tried the first time i had hate secured right up until i was charmed ( the whms and rdms cure bombing me was cut out of those ss), pld could just invincible and cover the first rng to get hate to make things a bit easier.

Also maybe next time we(or anyone else who reads this and wants to try) could try putting on some resist charm gear and see if it makes any difference. Theres that ring you can get with assault points, and merrow 17s locket which i think you get from a quest.

We had a ton of issues with getting ability cells though. On this one, I remember we got the final ability for Deme on the very last kill. Getting a PLD wouldn't enhance the boss fight all that much but would require more rare cells to farm up, so I don't think the trade off is worth it unless PLD can offer more.

The cell drops here are much worse than Bhaflau overall I think, so there are going to be a lot of people without the things they want.

You can't sleep a brainjacked guy because brainjack causes a small (4 per tick?) DOT effect.

Since the main focus of damage was via RNG, this probably wont help but it might help a different setup.

Can have ppl ctrl+z to lock into walk mode before/after engaging. If they believe they'll be charmed.

Well, to be honest, that probably wouldnt be helpful except on Long-Armed Chariot AND with a different setup... meh

hey im not to bad for a taru :( and his dmg was with chaos roll! I didnt have chaos roll for mine!
Huge difference without chaos roll though, lost a good 200ish off ws's on our second go pretty sure fatkat missed barrage and a ws on the first gank as well. Pretty much lost alot of dmg on the first one with deme missing his slug as well

Heh, not even users can edit for punctuation. One of my pet peeves for this place.

See? That's where an edit comment would be nice...

Seems like we'll be farming Castellanus cells for RR equips. Hmmm, 3xBLM, 3xRanged DDs (would SAM or SAM/RNG work?), add in a bit of support and some misc H2H jobs for the first two levels and perhaps this could be a generic LBC team? Oh, the next time I talk with my group's leader is going to be fun.

The reason this works out so well is because the RNGs are subbing /WAR. Ranged attacks and the like have a very very high 'damage cap' and you can keep stacking attack and your damage will just keep going up. A SAM/RNG would lack too many things to make it worth using over SAM/WAR or /THF.

The basic winning concept does not have to have RNGs - RNG is just the best damage/member job if you're going with small groups. It's also nice because its fewer people to get equipment for. You can still run the same concept of gank then wipe, hold with DoT, and gank again with other job setups.

Thanks for the reply. I think I'm finally starting to understand what you and faranim have been suggesting all along. (Sorry for all the questions and dumb comments, but I'm a WHM main with little melee background, so I'm still trying to figure out some of this stuff.)

Basically, it seems that given 30+ minutes, constant, staedy damage, even if not very high, can take out LBC while spike damage can put down LAC. We don't have enough RNG in our group to spam it, but we do have quite a lot of other players with both mage and melee jobs leveled.

I haven't thought this much about job-configuration since I pushed my LS through CoP.

Double Minuets, Berserk, and any other attack buffs on a SAM/WAR may be pretty useful. I can see a well equipped SAM/WAR with those buffs (or even throw in a COR) doing at least 800 a WS. He can get off up to 6 on the opening too with

WS > 2hr > WS > WS > WS > Med > WS > icarus > WS

I would probably put SAM/WARs in if we didn't happen to have the RNGs. DRK with Ridill/KC is also pretty cheesy.

/trolling

Nice post though im curious have you or anyone else tried to dispel the Brainjacker effect? I remember some people were talking about this on BG thread but reading BG is an anerism waiting to happen. Would be a bit more manageable if you could regain your tanks with a quick dispel.

Anyways grats!
