B5 FIC: Beatitudes (1/1)

Oct 07, 2008 00:28

Oh, my. I haven't written B5 in ages, but flatmate Z is watching it, which means that I have been re-watching it. We're up to The Deconstruction of Falling Stars, for those curious. Anyway. It's been ages, and the wee ficlet below feels rather clumsy to me, but I'm just happy to be writing at all. If anyone wants to be a star and polish it up with ( Read more... )

Thank you for the lovely feedback!

... of course Londo kept it. He so would.

It's funny, we go from Londo & G'Kar having that drink in No Surrender and no Vir reaction, to Londo & G'Kar chairing the meeting in Endgame, and by the time we hit Rising Star, the two of them are sparring. But we don't see how they get to that point, and we don't see anyone else's reactions until S5. They're all busy with the Earth war, of course, but the beginnings of the relationship were there before The Long Night of Londo Mollari, and watching it again made that really obvious. I think everyone should fill in the gaps. Yes.

(I also think that G'Kar should notice that Londo kept the glass, and that this would be one of the reasons why he's more, hrm, approachable, I guess, in those episodes, than we would expect him to be. But still holding back, of course, until he gets his apology, at which point his defence get quite a battering.

Someone needs to write G'Kar fic during this time, basically. I nominate you. Yes.)

This is a wonderful behind the scenes look at how these characters develop during that time. G'Kar shone clearly in only a few words, which is impressive treatment of such an intense character. I like how you chose to play up Londo's stubborn hopeful streak, as I think his determination there was one of the key factors in pulling everyone together at the very last.

The fandom needs more fic like this. :)

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I do wonder about this time a lot, because we don't see much of Londo and G'Kar during the war with Earth, but they're so active behind the scenes - and, of course, they go from barely able to share a drink in 'No Surrender' to sparring in a friendly fashion in 'Rising Star', which made me wonder what had happened out of sight...
