Attention HO-ers and hos

A couple questions, if you don't mind:

1) Friday's games begin at 2:00, with a dinner break after game 4.  How do you feel about a buffet on site (the one I originally planned to have Saturday night) so that the night doesn't drag out too long.  It will be a full buffet with 3 entrees, fresh fruit, salad, large dessert selection, coffee, tea, cold ( Read more... )

i'd probably skip the buffet on any night - sixty bucks for the two of us seems steep if there are cheap ethnic food options to be had. a list of places that would deliver to the hotel might be helpful.

Ditto for me. Seems kinda pricy.

Karaoke sounds fun, but it might be a bit much.

I'll eat whatever, I'm not picky.

I'd say zap the karaoke. Don't make it too complicated, and anyone who wants karaoke can go to Michigan the weekend after the HO. :-)

Either dinner option is fine with me. And I'm already trying to decide what 80s song I can sing effectively!

discovering local restaurants with friends is always one of the highlights of the tournament for me. would you need to meet a minimum of folks eating at the buffet? is anything walkable from the hotel so people could eat off site but still not take forever?

I was just browsing Google Maps... appears to be in an industrial park area with nothing walkable, unless I'm missing something.

A buffet might be a bit much during a dinner break (then again so might any meal out.) I usually try to keep it light while I still have games of scrabble to play (In other words I play better when I starve myself.)I think other players would agree with me and wouldn't mind too much if games ran a half hour later. I do like the idea of a buffet on Saturday night though, which I may or may not partake in.

Oh sorry, and about the karaoke, I don't know how popular it would be, but for only 80-100 people, I think you could probably skip it.
