In Palm Beach! (and Life is Good)/Australian Open

Jan 18, 2010 23:26

The Australian Open and the availability of ESPN on a 68-inch HDTV is, for an insomniac tennis buff like me, just about as good as life can get.  Sadly the big TV was just at my richie-rich bro's house Sunday night.  Now, I have to settle for watching it on a small, "normal person's" TV at the hotel ( Read more... )

I love Ivanovic, but maybe that's just because she's good looking, haha

Djokovic is my fave now - it would be cool to see him win in Australia for a second time. As much as Federer and Nadal are phenomenal athletes, it gets boring to see one of the two of them win all the time (del Potro is the recent exception, but still, you know what I mean overall).

Oh! Duh - How could I forget that luscious Ana! Yes, of course she's one to root for - and Novak too. (I think he got a bum rap from the press/US fans over the perceived diss of Roddick).

I admit I cried when del Potro won the Open - and he was finally allowed (by that dummy Enberg) to speak to his family and fans in Spanish. I Dvr'd it - and watched the last few games of that match over and over. . . it really was quite a comeback for dP.

I am rooting for Shahar Peer. I wish she could get some more MPH out of her serve. She'd be very tough to beat then.

On the men's side, I tend to root for Federer and then not Andy Roddick. Sorry dear.

Federer got lucky just now. Andreev, after playing most of the set beautifully, blew a bunch of chances to go up 2 sets to 1, proceeded to give up in the tie-breaker and then imploded in the 4th set. [Grumble] His gf is the one who beat Sharapova.

And not to be catty, but Mirka has totally let herself go since having the twins. No make-up, extra weight, major frumpage.

Aw - how sweet of you to say!

Guess what? We're comin' on down to Charlotte! I finally succeeded in convincing Spouse (I nagged and pleaded non-stop) - and he caved. Yay! See you there.

Hey, Mike:

We're here in PB until Friday afternoon, then will go to my bro's (closer to Miami) where we'll stay until Sunday night. Obviously that doesn't leave much time, but sure, we'll try.

OK, I have off tonight after 8, all day tomorrow, and maybe all day Saturday. Tell me where and when if you want to do something, and I'll see if it works. If you can't, that's totally fine; your schedule is tight. Just if you could let me know either way what you're thinking that would be great.
Are you having fun down here? It warmed up in time for you. :)
