The word is "
regardless." All right?
When I see people use "
irregardless" when they obviously mean "regardless," it is the linguistic equivalent of fingernails on chalkboard. It's in the same vein as the whole "
could care less" thing, in that you're pretty much saying the exact opposite of what you intended to say. Well, it's actually worse than that, because "irregardless" isn't really a word at all, in the first place.
