Sweet, new technologies! You made the jump from Windows XP to Windows 8? Now there's a leap.
Yeah, I've heard not-so-great things about Win8, which is why I'm sticking with 7. Seriously MS, some people need multiple windows open. Like that automatic-double-window trick you had in Win7. >>
Yeah, like holy crap - it's so different! I spent the weekend just learning how to navigate the stupid thing. But it's not so bad.
I hate the start screen (the pins, oh God, the pins! and the freaking corners instead of pull down menus), but I've finally figured out (mostly) how to work from the desktop mode rather than the start screen. The desktop mode is surprising similar to XP and I can pull up multiple windows at a time there.
Now all I need is for the hubby to bring home a copy of MS office from work (they give them away at his office as employee perks- yay!) and I can get to writing again. Then I will be a happy lady.
Yeah, desktop mode is pretty much all I'd ever expect to use Win8 in. Why would I want to use apps on my desktop? I want to use PROGRAMS, not cutesy apps like Angry Birds.
You can get MS Office for free? Sweet deal, man! Although I'm guessing it'll be another jump to go to Office 2013 to boot. ;D
Exactly! I'm just a simple girl at heart - a good internet connection, a word processor, and iTunes is all I need. Maybe a photo/video editing program, if I feel like being fancy. I have gaming consoles for the rest of that stuff. Seriously, I don't even use apps on my cell phone.
Yeah, free MS office FTW! And another new learning curve... thank goodness I'm a quick study.
