Outside of the City though, probably the closest he came to death aside from fighting Shishio was making his way through the Forest of Barriers--
[He paled the second the words started coming out of his mouth, before his hand shot to his mouth. He did not want to talk about this now. Not because of a curse...]
[Her eyes went wide with worry. That .... his reaction meant it was something he didn't want her to know about. It hurt to know that, but she didn't want him to hurt himself. She needed to think of a way to stop him from talking.]
[She nodded. She'd told him that his past didn't matter. That she wanted him to stay. That was just as true now as it was before.
She was frowning though, trying to think of a way to stop this curse from hurting him. Finally she leaned forward and kissed him soundly on the lips. If his mouth was preoccupied then maybe he couldn't talk.]
[His eyes went a little wide then, not expecting her to move in that way.]

Setting herself behind him she firmly gagged him.]
Oro? [His eyes went wide for a moment--mind instantly wandering to previous occurrences that he should not be thinking about and flushing horribly over it.]
[And then he was gagged.]
[He blinked wide for several seconds before laughing through the fabric and nodding his thanks to her.]
This unworthy one would guess it is fair to say you are experiencing your first curse--
