why a 7 month delayed reaction in posting?

I tend to rate poems on how many times I need to read them.

That one rates at least a 7, on a log scale to 10.

If you don't understand it right away, it must be good? :P :)

Delayed reaction in posting because I am very rarely certain right off the bat that a poem is good enough to subject the rest of the world to. And in this case, it was justified. I went back, took a look at it, realized that a whole verse was crap, cut it, and now it's a much better poem, and worth posting. :)

I have this weird mental conniption about not editing poetry.

It's not a lack of understanding, it's rereading to catch each layer of nuance and pick up on multiple levels of meaning. I've seen short poems that say more than long essays because they are written with mulitple layers and levels and in some ways are 5 or more poems compressed into one.

Don't feel like I'm expressing myself well.

I save a copy of the original, always, for back reference, but I cheerfully edit it to create a later, better version. Some poems in my folder have two or three versions, arranged in chronological order for future reference and psychoanalysis. :)

I was teasing you. I am gratified that you get a lot out of it.

Gah, very nice, and hitting home a bit. Thanks for posting.

World needs more angsty poetry... though, yours seem to be, well, not quite optimistic, but almost anti-angst in its message.

Her stuff is amazing, but hard to take in large doses... At least not without something around to brighten yourself back up with afterwards. A lot of angst, but not whiny angst.

I think I've read them all... Not sure. I'm always amused when I find a new fragment lying around the house.

I don't think I'd seen this one before, but I could be mistaken. It seemed to flow well, which for me means incredibly well-written poetry, or I've already stumbled through it once and understand the flow. I have a hard time with poetry at times. I keep trying to visualize it and it seems disjointed or wierd or something. And then others just click right the first time. ::shrug::

Kind of, yeah. I have lots of depressing stuff, but this one is more of the "pull your head out of your ass and look at what a nifty world you live in" vein. Which is very non-angst. I am grateful to say that I have been writing less and less angsty self-focused poetry, and more outward looking stuff. It's great that I can use poetry as an outlet for pain and frustration when I need it, but it's even better when I don't have to. :)
