They spend a large portion of the first part of the game letting Vaan's player come up with the dumbest ideas possible so that when the plans fail horribly, they can remind Vaan's player of that for the rest of the game and never let him plan anything again. Unfortunately, most of the dumb ideas work. Fortunately, he loses interest after a while.
Nah, she's deffinately the GM's GF. They accepted her into the group even though she insulted them the first time they met, probably 'cause the GM forced them to. And let's not forget that she gets all the major plot arcs and all the guys like her.
Oh, there's a lot of fun to be had in making some things up. But there's making things up, and then there's pulling them out of one's rear and not offering any explanation or support for them.
Case in point:
GM: You've arrived at Mount Bur-Omisace, home to the Gran Kiltias Anastasis. Balthier's player: Gran Kiltias? GM: You know, like a high priest. Balthier's player: High priest of what? GM: The religion. Balthier's player: ...the religion. Which has never been mentioned up until now, other than vague references to gods. Does this high priest worship all the gods? Some? Is it important to us? It can't be if we really haven't heard of it up until now- GM: Just head to the temple.
