Plotting the ending

I've been been mulling for a while something about endings, and I'm not sure that it's really reached a coherent form yet, but I'd like to get it out of the way. As most of you know, I like tragic endings, with bodies all over the stage. Yes, but you would, because you're much nicer than I am! In my defence, it's not the ruin that I enjoy, but the spectacle of the character seeing everything click into place, as communicator puts it. It could work the other way, in a happy catastrophe. The example that she cites - from Galaxy Quest - wouldn't give me that buzz, however, because it's not really derived from the subject's character or actions.

The bit where she has to leave her daimon behind for a while was more agonising, actually.
