Losing faith, and finding politics

Fascinating interview in yesterday's Times with Jonathan Edwards (you may have to swat one of those irritating ads that blocks out text). He was the born-again Christian Olympic gold-winning athlete who proclaimed his reliance on God at every opportunity and refused to compete on the Sabbath. On retiring, he got a job presenting Songs of Praise ( Read more... )

Six in a see-through red dress

When I first read this I thought you meant Colin Baker. Imagine my confusion.

I was about to refer you to a stunning video of Colin Baker in drag being a bizarrely not-camp nightclub chanteuse. Sadly, Youtube says it "has been removed due to terms of use violation". Happily, I found that trixieleitz took some screencaps first. Yes, I know he's not in a see-through red dress, but you can't have everything.

You really needed to see/hear the whole thing, though. He performed the song - Danke Schon, apparently - with such a strange combination of gravity and controlled sexuality.

Oh, I thought you were pretty much up to speed now. "Kinda sucked" is hardly a spoiler, though, maybe I just mean "was sadly lacking in nekkid Baltar".

Halfway through the season Rupert Murdoch pulled the plug on those of us who were getting Sky One via NTL/Virgin cable instead of his Sky dishes. I was supposed to work out how to download episodes, but the one I tried gave me soundtrack and no picture. Then I decided it was too complicated so I'd wait a bit. After all, I'm used to being a season behind.

Thanks for the Jonathan Edwards link. Fascinating read. And I'm glad you've posted the G2 article on SF, too, I was going to but now I don't have to!

Thanks! I thought the Edwards piece was the more interesting of the two!
