This one seems spare, to me; I get a theme of loneliness or longing. I think the narrator was hoping that they wouldn't have to go home by themselves. Birds in the snow searching around for the things that keep them going, like the person waking up alone and looking for scattered comfort?

I meant this poem to kinda be an invitation to make your own story, so there's no wrong interpretation.... but I will say (sheepishly) that the inspiration came from forgetting my iPhone, so perhaps that gives a different dimension to it as well.

I think I will revise the first line of the second stanza to "my latest love"
