1. Good thing I was mostly recovered from the stomach bug by Friday, since we celebrated not_a_monk's birthday that evening at the club where he goes dancing. I don't think I've ever been to a club, before, so it was something of a new experience. I actually went down and danced twice. I probably looked like a complete dork, but I try not to let that stop me ( Read more... )

If I ever get a pet cat or another lizard after Bossk eats it, I'm going to name it Detritus.

Amber is asking that you return to show up the dancing locals alongside me again in the future, so bear that in mind.

BTW I put up a pic of the new movie Enterprise, I need you and your friends list to pass judgement on what JJ Abrams hath wrought.

You should try the Guards series, I think you'd very much enjoy Vimes and especially Detritus. He is Mr. Bill's favorite character and being a troll, he is the Discworld equivalent of Bulkhead. *loves him*

Next time I go with you, I'm wearing flat shoes, and you're teaching me how to do that weird stride/soft shoe thing you had going on.

I've finally gotten to Night Watch, which is nice because it's the first City Watch book I picked up (I got confused and thought it was the first in the series). I heart Vimes.

Wait. Are you saying this is the first watch book you've read or you bought this first and have been waiting?

(and, man, am I the only person who read Pratchett COMPLETELY out of order by grabbing them willy-nilly off of shelves?)

I think Night Watch might be my favorite Discworld book (except for the days when it's Small Gods). It's even better on the re-read and re-read and re-read and, oh, I love Vimes. And I want to see Jack O'Neill vs. Sam Vimes SO BAD. (SG-1 gates to discworld, ends up accidentally causing trouble in Ankh-Morpork...perhaps a Goa'uld has placed itself among the Small Gods?)

Night Watch was the first Discworld book that I bought and tried to read, and I gave up because I was completely confused who everyone was. Found out later that it was not the first book, as I'd thought, so I started at the beginning and have now read all the earlier books, so now I'm reading it again, and it is made of happiness.

Vimes vs. O'Neill would indeed be epic. I read a crossover with Death and the SPN boys a while ago that was truly priceless, but I can't remember seeing any SG-1 crossovers.

Hee. I started with Small Gods and then Lords and Ladies, Feet of Clay and Men at Arms and then Color of Magic and then I exhausted my boyfriend's shelves. At which point I started grabbing them at the library completely at random. Guards, Guards was nearly the last Watchmen book I read....

Yeah. I stumbled across a crossover with Daniel and DEATH once (a short one) and the one Aurora mentions below. Still no Vimes (and I still want that. BAD)

I just finished Eric! Which I didn't realize was a Rincewind book until too late. so I started that series out of order.

I've read the first couple Watch series, Death Series, and Witches series, and a couple one offs, like "Going Postal" (which is one of my favorites).

I just saw an SG-1/Discworld crossover fanfic on stargatefic the other day. It's quite funny. It's DEATH and the luggage and DEATH's cat. (So it's good I was reading the Rincewind book to know what the luggage is...well, I still don't know, but...heh).

Yay, I emerged from shopping crowds victorious and thus am giddy and babbly and not interested in doing serious work.

Yay you and feeling better! No more stomach bug for Marie!

P.S. Sydney and SpyDaddy rock! (And Dixon too!)

What is this "serious work" of which you speak?

Dixon is probably my favoritest of all. *clings to him* SpyDaddy does indeed rock.

Because we are addicted to the wigs and the stunts and the QUESTIONS.

And, of course, Michael Vartan. *purr* I love him so. Almost as much as I love Spy!Daddy. Dang. I'd forgotten how much I loved that show. Good times.

Vartan is indeed very crushable. *grin* I find I'm enjoying the ridiculous wacky hijinks element of the show. The purple wigs and the shooting and the flipping and kicking and all that. It's like all the action flicks I watched growing up only with a kick-ass chick lead instead of Schwarzenegger.
