1. Shooting is awesome.
2. Get your guns working right, dang it!
2.a. Find a screw and use Loc-Tite this time. (Can you not keep the iron sights on with the scope?)
2.b. Sighting in a scope is not hard. Read the scope manual. Use a range of 25 yards and a good solid rest.
3. Somebody's always got to wear the low-cut top to the range. You only make that mistake once. Hopefully.
4. Calibers bigger than .22 are awesome.
5. Learning how to deal with BANG BANG BANG all around you is awesome.
6. Ridiculously hot ranges are not awesome. The proprietor is a cheapskate is what it is. The problem with recirculating the air is not gunpowder residue, but lead; if you spend a lot of time at a range then your lead levels can start to get toxic. But I live in a state where A/C is running virtually all the time, and trust me, it IS possible to air condition a shooting range.
7. In case I forgot to mention it, shooting is awesome.

2. At least the 9 mm works fine, since that's the one that would get used in non-target-shooting situations.
2a. Problem with the iron sights is a screw that is missing from when I lent my target shooter out. Beretta does not sell individual parts to consumers, and I have not made the time to hunt down a gunsmith who can acquire the part for me. The scope should work just as well. I cannot explain why it does not.
3. Actually, the lowest-cut top in the bunch was on me. Jody got a shell down the front of a t-shirt, which is a feat even I have never managed.

The one here in town didn't have the screw, for some reason, but gave me the contact info for a guy in the next county that should be able to help me out. I just have to, you know, call him. Which I keep forgetting to do.
Izh was her usual methodical self, already analyzing how various fictional representations of gun usage compared to the real thing before we even got home.
That is me, indeed. :-) (Also, it was both interesting and very fun to actually fire a gun. I came away wanting to know everything about guns and their usage. Heh.)

I imagine pretty much any gunsmith should be able to find the right size screw, fix it in minutes, and maybe not even charge you a dime.
