Stroganoff recipe!

Okay, so, I had to type this out for the Original Cool Coworker, and since a couple people requested it in comments to the food banter post, I thought I might as well post it as not. This is my stroganoff recipe, which started life as an Emeril recipe, which I proceeded to experiment with until it was to my liking ( Read more... )

Yeah, I'm too lazy and have too little time to use un-ground meat. Also, I am cheap. Heh. But I have had it with chunks of meat instead of hamburger, and it's quite tasty.

I also make it with sirloin, but I sear very thin slices in a very hot pan, then use wine to deglaze and make the sour cream sauce out of the rich pan juices...mmm. :-D

Funny thing about the various fungusinessess...

A white button mushroom is merely an immature crimini, which itself is an immature portobello! I think we can be glad they make sure to harvest the portobellos, lest one grow into a Galactopuff or something and form its own biosphere.

Ooh, bet that would be tasty, though.

Ha! So if I use crimini, theoretically Mr. Bill and I will both like it!

And yeah, I'm kind of wishing for a Galactopuff, now.

Also: I believe that recipes, and especially the measurements in them, are more like guidelines than actual rules. Consequently, my own recipes are kind of vague in that department.

I do that too! It really annoys my mother.
