Holiday weekend ketchup

May 30, 2006 09:35

Had very busy weekend, though it rarely seemed like it at any given moment.

Friday/Saturday: ( Wine country, Mexian-Danish food, and a fencing tournament that spectacularly failed to take place behind the cut. )

Actually I think your Tengwar means "aklekssa", but I could very well be mistaken. I haven't practised my Tengwar in ages, so to speak. ;) *scratchhead* It's a matter of whether you read the vowels "from top to bottom" or the other way round. I am fairly sure that both ways exist (though not simultaneuously, ie, in one text), but I taught myself only the mode fom Tolkien's books.
Anyway, if the first two vowels were read "from bottom to top" it'd still mean "kalkeass".

But, ah well, who knows this kind of thing, anyway......? XD ;)

You could be correct, I wrote it to be read consonant first, then vowel, which may be incorrect for Quenya (I most frequently wrote English in Tengwar, so that mode may have been incorrectly used). If you read consonant before carried vowel, it should say "kalquessa" (assuming that the rule still holds that you can put the vowel over or under the carrying consonant without changing the order in which it's pronounced).

That's an interesting rule, I didn't know that. Then it's correct, of course.
