"From my experiences the Job Centre have earned themselves a place in my opinion as the worst public service ever, I've never in all my time encountered an organisation designed to help people so full of bullies, idiots, savagely archaic bureaucracy, and brutally retarded employee's as this"

If ever a truer word was spoken.

When I finished my first degree in Pompey, I put on a brave face and made my way to the job centre. Put on a suit and tie to look smart and entered with paper work full of references, qualifications and experience. Despite this, I didn't get the time of day either. Noooooooooo... they were much more interested in finding Joe Nobody, who was dribbling in the corner, somewhere to drive his forklift.

sounds very familiar to my experience. They have it would seem absolutely no intrest in helping or finding work that involves any form of qualification or skills - indeed all they seemed to want to do with me was bully and pick at me until my spirit was sufficently broken enough for me to accept unskilled labour.

I will be most delighted to go down there this week and inform them that I shall not be returning.

sorry, perhaps I should of done - I'm sure you would of been much nicer to me :). In my frustration ive probably made it sound like I personally hated all the people at the job centre which of course I don't - I just had a really rough time there and am understandably pissed off. I will certainly come see you if I end up in that situation again :).

Thanks :) - see you friday.

I will be along to see Samppa the following week but this friday is Tim's birthday drinks so im afraid I shall be out with him.

Yea the speakers last time in the 2nd room seemed to be screwed in some way, or atleast i think it was something to do with the way the sound was set up. It was unbarably loud for most of the room and much quieter on the dance floor :S. Don't get me wrong, I play my music at an unhealthy volume most of the time :), but this was literally driving people from the room. Sadly there was little poor dave or katy could do about it in the booth as reducing the volumn there then compramised the dance floor :(. Perhaps a word with who ever works the sound, the bulk of the volume obv needs to be directed at the dance floor, not at the rest of the room.

IME it's always been a bit like this although last time the problem was very, very apparent.

Some solution would be much appreciated as it's nice to be able to speak to people in the venue as well as just dance.

Congrats on the job and I too know your pain well with Job Centre monkies. Some of them are the most incomparable jobs worths. It really puts a barrier in place of those few who are actually there because they actually care about helping the public.

A friend has just signed himself off because they couldn't find a way to allow him a signing break of one week so that he could attend a training course which would allow him to actually obtain a new job!!!!

A few months isn't that big a blot on your CV. Especially as you can give a detailed explanation of why it's there.

cheers.

Indeed - its a shame that an organisation that is supposed to be helping alot of people can be be so ineffective and unhelpful. My sympathy goes out to your friend as well, I understand the pain theyre having with getting the job centre to bend in anyway - only yesterday I was on the phone to them trying to get them to change the time or day I was appointed to sign on because I had an interview for a job booked @ the time of the appointment and they fought against that as much as they could. They kept saying about how I'd "still have to come in" - I'm going to be at an interview getting a job for christs sake!!!

Thanks for the reassurance about my CV - ive just heard alot of horror stories about how unemployment can be a death sentence for any CV so im understandably nervous, but your right I'm sure a few months shouldnt damage it too much.
