I've been listening to the online stream of BBC Radio 2 for a good portion of the past day and wow does what I've heard so far beat those American stations that claim "we play everything" for weird playlists.  I mean that in a good way.

Today I discovered that the 84-86 Taxi Girl compilation is now available on amazon in the U.S.  Hooray!  But I don't have money to buy such a thing and will have to content myself with YouTube.  Also...when is the song Mannekin going to be available?  I want it!  It's fantastic.

Dan Shaughnessy, whom pretty much everyone who follows Boston sports loves to hate, has redeemed himself completely in my eyes, at least for the day, by correctly accenting Gagné's surname. This is the first time I've seen anyone in the anglophone press do so.

I have been listening to Talking Heads and Television all day. 'Cause they're American. Also, I made some progress on the Satre book. He was not American. But the "American only" thing was never meant to apply to anything other than music.

I just saw Hairspray and that was EXACTLY the kind of movie I needed to see. Yay. I'd been meaning to see that for so long. It's great.

On Wikipedia, I read that this song was originally written in the early '70s. Wonder what it sounded like on their demo, because the final single sounds very 1982.

Work is crazy. Right now I actually am doing the Excel stuff because...I want to. It's boring but it's not crazy.

I have a 1978-1983 playlist and it's very fun.

I found a playlist program that can run on an ancient Mac. This makes me very happy. I have about seventy songs on it. Yay.

Worst French pronunciation ever on NPR "All Things Considered" segment about chicken teeth. Aaaah.

My piano lesson went pretty well; it's too bad I couldn't practice beforehand because I was in Portland so long.
