April 2024

Wow, once again, the span of a month comprises so many things. I also feel like I just wrote one of these, but apparently it was a month ago. I'm going to skip everything work-related, because otherwise I'll be here all night, but:

- My father came to visit me (and the total solar eclipse)! We got to go for some hikes, drove on the Watkins Glen ( Read more... )

I forgot to mention that it was cloudy, so we did not get to see the eclipse directly, but we certainly experienced the darkness of totality, and I'm glad we did it as guests of the Indigenous community!

Shame about the clouds but you'd still see the darkness and the cold and strangeness - and yes, very cool company.

There is no reason outdoor furniture can't be used indoors!

I just need to make sure I keep it nice and well cared for, ahaha. But I'm sure bringing it inside during the fall/winter will help that a lot!

Sounds like April was full of good things--huzzah! Here's hoping May is equally excellent. <3

I would like that! Mostly I am hoping May feels more low-key work-wise. Hope springs eternal!

I'm so happy to read so many good things, you deserve them all and more. The dad visit/eclipse experience sounds awesome and SO DOES THE TEA APPRECIATE CLASS, OMG?? Thank you for sharing the YT channel-- rarely have I clicked a link so quickly! Yay also for bike rides and furniture. I always forget how much I enjoy arranging my space until I have to do it and I hope it's bringing you the same sense of joy and comfort in your space. As for the outdoor table janking up your living room over winter? If you're cold, they're cold; let them in, says I!

I hope you enjoy the YT! She really is so wonderful. I haven't watched the videos yet but I'm definitely looking forward to learning more from her. I feel like I've already changed my tea drinking in 900 different ways just based on things she pointed out. As for furniture, I wish I had a better sense of how to effectively build a living room. I do not... know how it would work best? How does furniture work???? But the main piece I know I for sure want (a glass-door bookshelf to put my grandma's dolls and china in) is out of stock at IKEA, so I guess I have some time to continue brainstorming before I try to build a space around my non-existent bookshelf. XDDD

I've only looked at a couple videos so far but I'm already loving what I'm seeing. I also really want a gaiwan, lol.

Re: furniture, I feel you. More than once, I've gotten a room arranged exactly how I think I want it, only to step back and just not at all like what I'm seeing. At least you have a piece you know you want to build around, though, even if you don't have it yet. I've never used one but I know there are free "room planning" websites, so that might be useful? And this is an odd rec but I like watching Midwest Magic Cleaning's house-cleaning videos to relax and while I can't point to any specific video I think could be helpful, he often discusses room layouts and how to make the most of a given space.
