Look at it this way: if a huge winter storm hits, and you have no food, which one of you is going to survive longer? The one with no extra energy stored on her body, or the one that's heavier?

I know, it won't help the jealousy, but it eases it a little. :)

This is true, but then again, thinperfectgirl has a habit of bringing pizza and candy and cookies to the office, eating some herself with impunity, and then offering to share the rest because temptation is clearly what I need more of. So, you know, jealousy tends to come out on top. *g*

I don't think I've ever even seen a photo of you but I think you're beautiful just the way you are. And I'm sure your kids feel the same way.

Aw, thank you! Although my seven year old has told me I have a big butt, but to be fair she didn't know it wasn't a nice thing to say. ^_^

Okay, the thing is if you want to lose just a little weight, you CAN'T undereat. Your body will just freak out that it's starving and not getting enough food. I don't know if you're counting calories but you want to try to keep them around your basal metabolic rate, even a little more if you're exercising a lot. Also drink a LOT of water and really limit your salt (like below 1200 mg if you can) so you get rid of all the water weight. If you want more advice on it, try a book called Making the Cut, it's all about losing those last 10 pounds. Plus adding strength training (if you're not) is always helpful.

But seriously, I wouldn't do more than 5 or 10 pounds at most. The anorexic model weight is not healthy at all. Don't compare yourself to other people! Be happy with your body the way it is.

Okay, two things. One, clearly you have done more research on this than I have, as my basic plan has been to eat less sugar and fat, exercise more. And you're right, comparisons are silly, as there will always be someone out there who is better looking.

And two, your icon is made of delicious. *g*

You're probably are at a good weight for your body and you shouldn't focus on losing weight.

If you want to push past a plateau, though, you might want to consider strength training and building muscle tone. Not muscle mass, but tone. Some muscle will help you look trimmer, and you will burn more calories at rest the more toned your muscles are. Light weights or resistance bands are easy to find at Walmarts, PXes, and drugstores.

And congratulations!

Yeah, I've heard that on the muscle tone; the more you have, the more the body burns even at rest. The biking thing is mostly aerobic, I suppose, although it's a stationary bike with those handles that let you work arms and legs together, and with enough resistance that seems to have an effect. But anyway, thank you! ^_^
