(1) How much do I love this is set post-Adrift?
(2) The initial conversation b/w Ianto and Asha had me wincing and laughing in all the right places.
(3) I like her. Yes!

Thank you so much!!
1) *laughs* Poor Jack! He's gotta get his frustration out somewhere!
2) Poor Ianto too. When we started writing that part, I said to Rach, "Dude. I've never picked anyone up in my life. Or really even been picked up. What the hell do people say?" Luckily, in fiction we can guarantee a receptive audience. ;-)
3)Yay!

I've always thought of Jack as being more comfortable as an XO rather than a CO; it seems very much the role he plays on Who especially, and he seemed very happy with himself there, when he has the Doctor to answer to. Contrast that with his -- shall we say angsty-ness - on Torchwood, and for us it seemed to fit. Glad it worked for you, and hope you enjoy the rest of the story!

Be doubly flattered in that case, because I normally avoid Jack/Ianto like the plague.

And yes, on the Rose and Lisa front! We were very anxious that this lady be someone *different* from the rest of the characters we've seen thus far, so we sort of specifically laid it out. The OFC thing is always a bit hard to parse, so it's difficult to know how to play it.

*laughs* Yay on the cringing. Picking up ppl (or being picked up) is not something I personally have any experience with (although, thankfully rm is less lame than me) and I was all like, "Dude, what do people even say?" I thought Ianto might feel the same way ;-) although of course, he is more clever about it than I would be. And yes, Jack is very good at all this, and he knows how to get the result he wants.
I have some trouble with the uncomplicated happily ever after that we see even on the show. I mean, they seem very much together, very much into each other, but it's still a complex relationship, and some of the things that happen - like the whole episode Adrift ( ... )
