You know what, screw it. In this case, pictures are worth more than a thousand words - triple that and you get close to the gut punch they carry.

In the Comics That Made Us Cry post I cited some of my own examples -- and wow, flist, you stepped up to the plate and cited examples that I either should have thought of or clearly need to read ( Read more... )

excellent moments.

I too am hard-pressed to find a better moment than Jenny Sparks going out, although the moment when Anaykah gives Snow baby Jakita, as the Lost City of Opak-Re withdraws from the world is just heartbreaking. She can't leave her people, She loves him, but she's giving him the evidence of her infidelity with Blackstock. He has to forgive her, say goodbye, and accept godfatherhood all in one moment. And he does, because Elijah Snow is just that awesome.

And, I'm not sure I qualify as a Hal-hater, but I can deny your moment. As the man says: ...cops don't like me. So I don't like cops.

For me, the final pages of Preacher are showstoppers, as is -- suprisingly, the last couple pages of the last Barry Ween, where you finally see that, despite the vast intellect and prodigious skills, Barry is still a young boy.

There's a couple of Garth Ennis' War Story issues -- I'm thinking Nightingale and The Ballad of the D-Day Dodgers -- that are pretty damn moving, too.
