Wow, getting to the DMV at 7:20 AM so you can be the first in the door when they open at 8:00 AM? It's really worth it. We were literally the first in line, Loyal Little Brother and I, and we were in and out the door within seven minutes with registration and new license plates. Fantastico ( Read more... )

Don't get me going about Local Color Fail. I still shudder over that whole "X-Men In Dallas" story from the late Eighties, complete with an artist who might have seen pictures of Dallas's skyline at one time. (That's not counting the idea of a seven-story-tall tyrannosaurus in the Galleria, again drawn by someone who might have heard of dinosaurs but didn't quite grasp the concept.)

By the way, I still need your Snail Mail address. I have stickers and buttons for you.

Ever since Marvel relocated the X-Men to San Francisco, they've managed to screw up the geography in almost every single issue.

I'll PM you with my e-mail so that we can exchange addies. Thank you for thinking of me for buttons and stickers!

If it was the color that's failing, how would it be the Dodsons fault?

You don't know the expression "local color fail"?

On that cover, the Dodsons decided to draw the Transamerica Pyramid as looming in the background on the corner of Haight and Ashbury. Local color fail.

Here, let me Google that for you.

I was presuming you were talking about the actual color of the street.

But now I know!

You can't even see the street on that cover!

Ghost Rider has an ongoing book now - have you been reading it? Hell, they even brought Danny Ketch back for a mini recently!

I don't think that's the real Cloak. I think it's Exodus. He has Exodus' face at least and somewhat of the coloration.

...What? I don't see Exodus at all. Why would Cloak be with Exodus? (And man, eighties and nineties X-Men villains, woooohooo.)

I am pleased to see the Avenger having torn the head off that particular character.

Sorry, you completely lost me there. What?

Exodus can kind of do anything. He doesn't have a very clearly defined powerset, sometimes he just seems to be able to just about anything he likes. He was a cool character, I wish he showed up more often. I liked his little storyline after Decimation. I have that page where he takes out a ONE Sentinel casually, saved as a wallpaper.

Yes, I LOVE that Rogue has gone back to an older version of her costume! And given that San Francisco is chilly in the spring and summer, it's more appropriate. (Not that Rogue has ever run around showing a lot of skin to begin with.)

It's Terry and Rachel Dodson, not "Dobsons."

And the "Gold gate" bridge?

Golden Gate.

"Chinatown" as one word, not two.

You = local color fail!
